Daydreaming in color...

The dynamic duo, BLACK and WHITE, seems to have a show-stopping comeback every season!  This time around, look for bold florals, French country motifs, wild graphics, nautical stripes, and dainty polka dots—all in vivid contrast! It is the easiest way to look put-together and exude elegance without having to try too hard! And remember, keep those "less than perfect" areas clad in black... white immediately attracts the eye!

Metallic is still a huge trend, but to give this look staying power, don't over do it! Stick with tame and neutral colors with metallic embellishments or details. Wear only one or two pieces at the same time—head to toe metallic is a big NO-NO! Mix and match chunky wooden bangles with skinny bronze and sterling ones. Don't be afraid to carry a metallic handbag for more than an evening out—it looks great and not at all out of place when paired with blue jeans and a simple tee. Your Metallic Mantra should be "TASTEFUL and FUN" not "TACKY and OVERDONE"!

Western wear is another trend that is back in the saddle again! Steer clear of looking too "Little House on the Prairie" by zeroing in on the DETAILS! Look for: Blouses with western style yokes or mother of pearl snaps, pretty plaids in modern silhouettes, hand tooled leather belts and updated saddle bags. When incorporated into the "here and now," these rough and ready pieces put a playful twist on sophistication!

Favorite tips we've learned from our customers...

Ever found yourself in the check-out lane with an empty checkbook? It’s just an inconvenience when you’re resaling, but at the grocery store it can mean melted ice cream! Solution: when you start a fresh stack of checks, rip off the first two and tuck them into the back fold. Never again will you run out!

Keep an extra set of house and car keys in your make-up case or briefcase. It might save a taxi ride and lots of time when you inadvertently lose or lock your keys inside.

Keep a magazine or book of short stories in your glove compartment. They will entertain you while you’re waiting for the kids, or entertain the kids while you’re shopping at your favorite resale shop. The glove compartment is also a good place for coupons and frequent buyer cards.

Make the Most of your Dorm Room

College students have become very ingenious at making use of their dorm room space. They have an eye for getting the most out of their limited space, while creating a place to call home. The basic and necessary items for dorm rooms include stackable crates, boxes and baskets, which provide storage that is visually appealing.

Here are a few tips to make dorm decorating personal:

Look around and shop early. Keep an eye out for deals the summer before heading to school.

Use floor to ceiling storage—make all the space usable.

Don't be afraid to try something different than everyone else is doing.

Make your room comfortable—it's where you will be living for nine months.

Distinguish a study area from the living space by using a bed or curtains as a visual divider.

Make sure nothing is permanent. Then, you can rearrange as the spirit moves you.

Shop at resale, thrift and consignment stores for furniture and accessories. Paint or refurbish your bargains with fabric if necessary. Remember... always look for the NARTS decal. It is Your Assurance of Professionalism.
