NARTS CODE OF ETHICS
This Enterprise is Committed to Ethical Behavior. As a member of NARTS: The Association of Resale & Thrift Stores, we have agreed to adhere to honorable business behavior as stated in this Code of Ethics. All members shall be bound by these business practices:
ENSURE rights to supplier confidentiality of privileged information received verbally, in writing or electronically.
THRIVE to achieve educational growth through continuing education, sharing of knowledge, expertise and skills to advance the resale industry.
HONOR written and oral agreements, striving for clarity and mutual understanding through complete, accurate and timely communications, while respecting legal and contractual rights of others.
IMPLEMENT clearly written return, exchange, consignment, layaway and similar policies.
COMMIT to the protection of the environment by responsible use of resources in the operation of your business.
SINCERELY represent and act within one’s areas of professional competency and authority without exaggeration, distortion or concealment.
Adherence to the Code of Ethics signifies professionalism, fair dealing and high integrity. Any member may be subject to revocation of membership if found to have materially breached any part of this Code.
NARTS CODE OF CONDUCT
NARTS events are designed to create a welcoming environment where members of the resale, consignment, and thrift community can learn, collaborate, and share ideas. All participants are expected to contribute to a professional, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere.
This Code of Conduct applies to all NARTS events and activities, including conferences, workshops, field studies, social events, online programs, and any event held in connection with NARTS.
Expected Behavior
- All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects professionalism, respect for others, and support for the NARTS community. This includes:
- Treating fellow attendees, speakers, partners, staff, and venue personnel with courtesy and respect
- Engaging in constructive conversations and professional collaboration
- Respecting differences in viewpoints, business models, and experiences within the resale industry
- Following instructions provided by NARTS staff, event organizers, and venue personnel
- Using event spaces, facilities, and equipment responsibly
Unacceptable Behavior
- The following behaviors are not appropriate at NARTS events and will not be tolerated:
- Harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or abusive language directed toward any participant
- Disruptive behavior that interferes with sessions, presentations, or event activities
- Aggressive sales tactics, solicitation, or promotional activity outside of approved partner or exhibitor areas
- Unauthorized recording or distribution of presentations, materials, or discussions
- Damage to property or misuse of event facilities
- Any behavior that compromises the safety, comfort, or professional environment of the event
Reporting Concerns
If a participant experiences or observes behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, they are encouraged to notify a member of the NARTS staff or event leadership team as soon as possible so the situation can be addressed.
Reports will be handled with discretion and with the goal of maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all attendees.
Consequences of Violations
- NARTS reserves the right to take appropriate action in response to violations of this Code of Conduct. Actions may include:
- A verbal warning
- Removal from a session or event activity
- Removal from the conference or event without refund
- Restriction from participating in future NARTS events
- Any action deemed necessary to protect the integrity and safety of the event environment

NARTS events bring together a wide range of professionals from across the resale industry. By participating, attendees help create an environment where everyone can learn, connect, and grow.
