You do not need to be a numbers person to understand your store. Start with what you know, add a little at a time, and let Daily Store Insights do the math.
No perfect records required. No calculator required. No judgment. Just useful information about your business.
START WHERE YOU ARE
Hey, you can do this.
Most store owners already have more useful information than they realize. Daily Store Insights simply puts those numbers together so you can see what is happening, notice patterns, and make better decisions without being afraid of the math.
You do not have to fill in everything.Enter what you have. A blank means the information is unknown. A zero means the actual result was zero. The program will only calculate what your information supports.
When you are ready, there is more to explore.
For this beta version: your information is saved in this browser on this device. It is not being placed into a shared Daily Store Insights database. Use Back Up My Data in Data Management to keep a safety copy.
Enter Daily Information
Enter only what you have. Blank means no information was entered. Enter 0 only when the actual result was zero.
Merchandise sales before sales tax.
Completed customer purchases or receipts.
Consignors, sellers, donors, buy outright sellers, or other inventory sources.
Start With Existing History
Run a POS or activity report for an earlier period and enter the totals you have. You do not need every number.
Enter a Historical Report Period
These totals stay as one historical period. They are not divided into made up daily numbers.
Use totals from a completed POS, sales, intake, or activity report. Enter only what your system provides. Daily Store Insights will calculate Average Sale, Items Per Transaction, Average Selling Price, and other measurements only when the required totals are available.
Saved Historical Periods
These can be combined with later daily entries for totals and averages without creating fake daily history.
Data Management
This is the safe keeping area. You do not need it every day, but it is where you protect your information and bring it back when needed.
Two kinds of files, two different jobs.
Back Up My DataProtects the whole program, including daily records, existing history, goals and schedule.
Download Daily HistoryCreates a spreadsheet friendly CSV of your daily records only.
Protect Everything
Use this as your full safety copy. If browser data disappears or you move to another computer, Restore My Data can rebuild the program from this file.
Includes daily records, historical periods, goals, open days and planned closures.
Daily History Spreadsheet
Download your individual daily entries to a CSV file that opens in Excel, Google Sheets and most spreadsheet programs. You can also import a Daily Store Insights CSV back into the program.
Start Completely Fresh
This clears daily records, historical periods and goals from this browser. It is intentionally difficult to do by accident.
Make a backup first if there is anything you may want later.
Where is my information? In this beta version, it is stored locally in the browser you are using. Different computers and different browsers do not automatically share this local data. A future member account version may store information differently.
Your Store Insights
Your entered information plus the business measurements calculated from it.
What Your Store Is Telling You
Patterns, opportunities, and things worth a closer look based on your own data.
Trends
Choose one measurement to see how it changes over time.
Create an Insights Report
Choose a period and Daily Store Insights will turn your numbers into a clean business report you can read, print or save as a PDF.
This note prints on the report and can explain circumstances the numbers alone cannot show.
Choose a reporting period and click Generate Report. Your report will appear here.
History
Review each day without horizontal scrolling. Entered information and calculated measurements stay together in one daily record.
What If?
See what small changes could mean using your own current averages.
These are estimates based on your current averages. They are intended for planning and do not guarantee future sales.
Optional Goals
Enter the goal you already know. Daily Store Insights will calculate the equivalent daily, weekly, monthly, and annual targets for you.
1. Normal Open Days
Goal calculations use the days your store is normally open.
Select the days your store is normally open. A store closed every Monday should leave Monday unchecked. The program uses actual open days when converting daily, weekly, monthly, and annual goals.
2. Planned Closed Dates
Add holidays, vacations, inventory days, or other dates you know the store will be closed.
Closed days are removed from goal calculations. A planned closed day is not the same as an open day with zero sales.
3. Sales Goal
Enter one sales goal. We will calculate the other time periods.
Choose the time period you already use: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Annual. Enter that one goal and the program will calculate the related targets. The Current Month Open Day Target is always the current month's goal divided by the actual planned open days in that month. Planned closed dates are removed, and special open dates are added. If you enter a custom monthly sales goal, that custom goal is used for the current month's daily and weekly targets.
Advanced: Set Different Monthly Sales Goals
Optional. Enter a different goal for any month that should not use the automatically calculated amount. Leave a month blank to keep the calculated goal.
4. Inventory Coming In Goal
Enter one Items Accepted goal. We will calculate the rest.
This measures inventory accepted into the store. Choose the time period you already use and enter one target. The program will calculate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual equivalents based on open days.
5. Processing Goal
Enter one Items Processed goal. We will calculate the rest.
This measures processing throughput. If you know you want 400 items processed per open day, choose Daily and enter 400. The program will calculate the weekly, monthly, and annual equivalents automatically.
6. Transactions Goal
Enter one completed-purchase goal. We will calculate the rest.
Transactions are completed customer purchases. Choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Annual and enter the one goal you know. The other time periods are calculated automatically using planned open days.
7. Customer Purchase Averages
These are averages, so they stay the same across day, week, month, and year.
Average Sale is the average dollars spent per transaction. Items Per Transaction is the average number of items purchased per transaction. Because these are averages, there is no need to convert them into daily, weekly, monthly, or annual versions.
Average dollars spent per completed transaction.
Average number of items purchased per transaction.
Your Available Performance & Goal Reality Check
See what your available history shows and what your goals may require.
Average Sale is influenced by both Items Per Transaction and Average Selling Price. This section uses your recent actual history to show how those pieces fit together. It does not guarantee a result. If there is not enough historical information, the program will say so rather than estimating from missing data.
Goal Progress
See how you are doing for the year, current month, current week, and today.
