Registration Eligibility and Participation

NARTS conferences are open to individuals and businesses involved in the resale, consignment, and thrift industry. This includes store owners, managers, staff, industry professionals, and others who support or serve the resale community.

Registration pricing may vary based on membership status, business type, or participation category. The pricing structure reflects the level of membership and involvement with the association.

By registering for a NARTS event, attendees agree to conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner that supports the purpose of the conference and the NARTS community.

All attendees are expected to adhere to the NARTS Code of Ethics and the NARTS Code of Conduct during the event. These guidelines help ensure a welcoming, respectful, and productive environment for learning, collaboration, and networking.

Attendees also acknowledge that by registering for a NARTS event they consent to receive communications from NARTS related to the conference, future educational opportunities, and association updates. From time to time, NARTS may also share relevant information from approved NARTS partners whose services support the resale industry.

Attendees may opt out of marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe option included in email communications.

NARTS reserves the right to refuse or cancel a registration if participation is determined to be inconsistent with the mission, values, or professional standards of the association.

Age Requirement Policy

NARTS conferences, seminars, and related association events are professional business gatherings intended for adult participants. For this reason, attendance is limited to individuals who are 18 years of age or older.

Individuals under the age of 18, including infants and children, are not permitted to attend conference sessions, educational programs, networking events, social functions, or other official NARTS activities.

This policy helps ensure a professional learning environment for attendees and aligns with venue requirements, insurance coverage, and the nature of conference discussions and programming.

If a participant is traveling with family members under the age of 18, arrangements for childcare or supervision outside of conference activities must be made independently by the attendee.

NARTS reserves the right to refuse entry or remove individuals who do not meet the minimum age requirement.

Photography and Media Notice

NARTS conferences and related events may be photographed, video recorded, audio recorded, or livestreamed for promotional, educational, archival, and post-event training purposes. Recordings of certain sessions or activities may also be made available for purchase or distribution after the event.

By attending a NARTS conference or seminar, you acknowledge and agree that your image, voice, and likeness may appear in photographs, video recordings, audio recordings, livestreams, or other media captured during the event by NARTS. You grant NARTS permission to use and reproduce these materials in association publications, educational resources, marketing materials, the NARTS website, social media, promotional communications, and other association channels now known or developed in the future.

Photography and recording may be conducted by NARTS staff, board members, contractors, partners, and event attendees. As a result, your image may also appear in photos or videos posted by other participants on personal websites or social media platforms that are outside the control of NARTS.  Members cannot record any events, education, or activities.

If you have concerns regarding photography or recording, please notify NARTS staff during conference check-in so we can make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request. If you notice someone photographing or recording you and prefer not to be included, you may respectfully ask that individual to stop or delete the image from their device.

Attendance at the conference constitutes acknowledgment and acceptance of this policy.

Professional Conduct and Community Standards

NARTS events are designed to foster a professional and respectful learning environment.

All attendees are expected to behave in a manner that supports collaboration, respectful discussion, and the positive reputation of the resale industry. Harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

NARTS reserves the right to remove any attendee whose behavior is deemed inappropriate or disruptive to the event environment. In such cases, no refund will be issued.

Health and Safety | No Smoking Policy

Attendees agree to follow any health, safety, or venue guidelines that may be in place at the time of the event.

For the comfort and health of all attendees... all NARTS functions will be smoke-free. This includes educational sessions and all food functions. Also, please honor the smoking policy of the hotel.

Force Majeure

NARTS shall not be responsible for delays, disruptions, or cancellation of the conference due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control. These may include but are not limited to severe weather, acts of nature, government restrictions, public health concerns, labor disputes, venue closures, or transportation disruptions.

In such circumstances, NARTS will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative solution, which may include rescheduling the event or providing a credit toward a future NARTS event.

Conference Policy | Disclaimer

NARTS does NOT allow any function (tour, event or auxiliary meeting) that conflicts with any scheduled conference function, including the optional resale shop bus tour. We reserve the right to postpone, delay, or cancel ANY function conflicting with an official NARTS function.

Policy Update

NARTS reserves the right to update these policies when necessary. The most current version will always be posted on the event registration page.

Have A Question?  We Have An Answer!

Anyone involved in the resale, consignment, or thrift industry is welcome to attend. Store owners, managers, staff, and future store owners all attend to learn from peers and strengthen their businesses.
Not at all. Many attendees are first timers every year. NARTS events are known for being welcoming, open, and collaborative. Between sessions, meals, roundtables, and evening gatherings, there are constant opportunities to meet people and start conversations. By the end of the conference you will likely have new contacts, new friends, and a group of peers cheering you on long after you return home.
Yes. NARTS University is built specifically for the resale industry. Consignment stores, nonprofit thrifts, boutique resale shops, furniture and home stores, and growing multi-location operations all attend. The conversations and coursework reflect the real challenges and opportunities resale businesses face every day.
Introduce yourself to people. Sit with someone new at meals. Ask questions during sessions. Share your own experiences. The learning is valuable, but the conversations and relationships you build are what make the experience truly powerful.
No. Conference registration secures your place at NARTS University, but there is no advance sign up for individual courses. Sessions and labs are available on a first come, first served basis and each room has a maximum occupancy limit. Once a room reaches capacity, additional attendees will need to choose another available session.
Registration includes access to conference sessions, labs, roundtables, and scheduled NARTS University events like our Thursday night Tailgate party and Homecoming on Saturday night. Some experiences may have limited capacity and will be assigned based on availability.
The Field Study Bus Tour is a guided off-site experience where attendees visit local resale businesses to see operations, merchandising, and store culture in action. Oh, and shopping! We encourage members to pay in cash because of those pesky credit card fees.
Bus tour seating is limited. Early registrants have the best opportunity to secure a seat. Late registrations cannot be guaranteed a place once buses reach capacity.
Yes. Many stores send multiple team members so they can attend different sessions and bring back a wider range of ideas and strategies to their business.
No. Non-members are welcome to attend, though members receive preferred pricing and additional benefits through their membership.
The official NARTS University Residence Hall hotel (DoubleTree Reid Park) will host the conference. Staying at the conference hotel makes it easy to participate in everything happening throughout the event and gives you the best opportunity to connect with other attendees.
No. Hotel rooms are not included and must be made through the DoubleTree Reid Park reservation link for the special rate (which includes your breakfast and free parking). You can find the link on the Hotel | Residence Hall page.
Attire at NARTS University is comfortable and professional. You’ll see everything from denim to dresses and everything in between. The goal is to be comfortable for a full day of learning and conversation while still being respectful of a professional setting. Meeting rooms can sometimes feel cool, so bringing a light sweater or jacket is always a good idea.
Absolutely!. Networking happens naturally throughout the conference. Conversations between sessions, during meals, and at special events create many opportunities to connect with other resale professionals.
Educational expenses for attending business meetings and conferences are tax deductible. All ordinary and necessary expenses of Continuing Education (including registration fees, travel, meals, lodging, and associated out-of-pocket costs) taken to maintain and improve professional skills are tax deductible according to Treasury Regulation 1.162-5. Please consult your tax advisor for further information.
Bring business cards, an open mind, and a willingness to share ideas. Many attendees also bring an extra tote bag or suitcase for materials and resources they collect during the conference and field study bus tour.
Please refer to the Conference Policies page for full details regarding cancellations, refunds, and registration transfers.
If you have questions about registration or the conference experience, please contact the NARTS team at april@narts.org.
